DATE PINWHEELS 
1 c. butter, softened
1 c. sugar
1 c. packed brown sugar (light)
2 eggs
4 c. unsifted all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
Date Filling

Cream butter and sugars. Add eggs, beating until light and fluffy. Combine flour and salt. Gradually add to creamed mixture. Divide dough in half. Roll each half into a rectangle 1/4-inch thick. Spread half of cooled Date Filling over dough. Roll up jelly-roll fashion; chill.

Slice 1/4-inch thick. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Repeat with remaining dough. Preheat gas oven to 400 degrees. Bake 8-10 minutes. Makes about 5 dozen cookies.

DATE FILLING:

1 lb. pitted dates, chopped
1 c. chopped walnuts
1/2 c. sugar
2/3 c. water

Combine all ingredients in medium saucepan. Bring mixture to a boil over medium flame, stirring constantly. Cook until mixture thickens, about 5 minutes. Cool.
