1 lg. head cabbage, sliced 2 lg. onions, sliced Garlic, salt and pepper 2 lbs. smoked sausage or kielbasa, sliced 1 (16 oz.) can sauerkraut drained and washed with cold water 10 oz. pkg. bowtie pasta, cooked until crisp tender 1 to 2 sticks butter Melt butter in large dutch oven. Saute onions and cabbage. Season to taste with garlic and salt and pepper. While this is cooking boil bowties and drain. When cabbage cooks down add sausage slices and sauerkraut and cooked noodles. This recipe can be made with leftover hot dogs, pork chops, etc. Cook 2 to 3 hours or chill overnight and warm through next day longer it cooks the better it tastes. |
