WATERMELON PICKLES 
12 c. watermelon rind
12 c. sugar
20 drops oil of cinnamon
20 drops oil of cloves
1 qt. white vinegar

Peel, cut and wash rind. Soak 24 hours in refrigerator water to cover. Drain. Boil in fresh water for 10 minutes. Drain well then measure. Mix spices, sugar and vinegar and pour over. Place in refrigerator for 24 hours. Bring to a boil. Boil hard for 7 minutes. Place in refrigerator for 5 days. Pack in jars. Heat syrup and pour over. Process 5 minutes in water bath.
