LOVELY "RED" DEVIL'S FOOD CAKE 
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
2 eggs
1 c. sour milk or buttermilk
1 heaping teaspoon baking soda
2/3 c. cocoa
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix sugar, butter and milk until creamy. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Dissolve soda in a small amount of hot water. Add to mixture. Dissolve cocoa in hot water until creamy. Add to mixture. Stir in flour gradually. Add vanilla. Bake at 350 degrees. Makes 3 layers or large loaf cake. If your oven is not too hot, you will have a light red cake.
