AMISH TURNIPS 
2 cups cooked turnips (mashed or cubed)
1 egg
2 tbsp. brown sugar
1 cup milk
1 tbsp. butter
2/3 cup bread crumbs (pinches of bread, not what you buy)
salt and pepper, to taste

COOK TURNIPS UNTIL TENDER. DRAIN and MASH (I prefer leaving/cooking them sorta chunky). Drain well and place in a sprayed 1-quart casserole dish.

In a small bowl combine a slightly beaten egg, brown sugar and milk. Pour over turnips. Add the butter and 1/2 of bread, gently stir together saving remainder of the bread crumbs for the top. Top with rest of bread crumbs. Dot with additional butter.

Bake at 375°F for 30 to 45 minutes.
