SALTY OATMEAL 
1 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg, well beaten
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
3 c. quick cooking oatmeal
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream shortening and sugar; add vanilla. Add egg. Sift together flour, salt, baking powder and soda and add to creamed mixture. Stir in oatmeal. Roll thin on floured board. Cut. Sprinkle lightly with salt. Bake on greased cookie sheet at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
