GRANDMOTHER'S FRUIT BARS | |
1/2 c. shortening 1 1/2 c. brown sugar 2 eggs 1/4 c. milk 2 1/4 c. flour 1 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. cloves 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. ginger 1 c. currants 1 c. raisins 1/2 c. chopped nuts 1/2 c. chopped dates Cream shortening and sugar, add eggs, then milk. Sift flour, soda and salt. Mix with shortening, sugar, eggs and milk. Mix well. Add fruits and nuts. Spread in well greased 10x14 pan. Bake 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Cut into bars when cool. May be frosted and decorated with red and green candied pineapple wedges. May be frozen. |
