FLAKY HEART - Y BISCUITS 
2 c. flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt (opt.)
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
2 tsp. sugar
1/2 c. vegetable shortening
2/3 c. skim milk

Sift dry ingredients together. Cut in shortening until crumbly. Add milk all at once and mix quickly with fork. Knead gently 1/2 minute on floured surface, flouring dough and folding over several times. Pat flat with palms of hands until 1/2 inch thick. Cut with floured biscuit cutter (or glass). Bake at 450 degrees approximately 10 minutes or until brown. Makes 16 medium biscuits.
