HOMEMADE SOAP | |
4 big c. cold water 1 can lye Mix together in a porcelain vessel. Let cool, then add: 1 big c. ammonia 2 heaping tbsp. borax 6 lbs. melted tallow or lard Stir together until thick like honey, then pour into lined wooden box and then put down a dampened towel. After pouring in the soap mixture, cover with towels, newspaper or anything else to keep the heat in. Cut into bars before it completely hardens. Remove; store in a dry place. NOTE: When mixing lye and water, be very careful so you don't burn your skin or splash on your clothes. Caution when you add the remaining ingredients also. Use a well-ventilated room or make this soap outdoors. |
