DIVINITY CANDY 
1/2 c. water
3 c. sugar
1/2 c. Karo light
1/4 tsp. salt
2 egg whites
1 c. walnuts
1 tsp. vanilla
Butter for platter

Place first 4 ingredients into a medium stainless steel pan onto the stove on medium heat to boil. Beat 2 egg whites in medium size glass bowl with electric mixer until stiff. Boil to a soft ball stage (when a small amount of syrup dropped into a cup of ice water forms a soft pliable ball of syrup).

Add 1/2 syrup mixture to egg whites with electric mixer until mixed. Returning other half to boil to crackle stage (when a small amount of syrup dropped into a cup of ice water forms a crunchy stage). Add the rest of egg mixture. Add nuts and vanilla; beat with a wooden spoon until not shiny. Spread on glass buttered platter. Let cool. Cut into pieces.
