GINGER BREAD | |
1 c. sugar 1/2 c. shortening 1 c. sorghum molasses 1/2 tsp. ginger 2 tsp. cinnamon 1 c. buttermilk or hot water 1 tsp. baking soda 1/4 tsp. salt 2 c. flour, about Mix sugar and shortening well. Add spices and mix again. Add molasses. Beat and add buttermilk to which soda has been added. Add enough flour for a thin batter. Bake in slow oven 40-50 minutes. Raisins may be added. |
