DATE NUT DOUBLE DECKER BARS 
1 1/4 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1/2 c. butter
1/3 c. granulated sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 pkg. (8 oz.) pitted dates, chopped
1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
1/3 c. granulated sugar
1/3 c. light brown sugar
2 eggs
2 tbsp. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped pecans

Combine 1 1/4 cups of flour, 1/3 cup sugar and butter; blend to fine crumbs. Pack into bottom of greased 9 inch square pan. Bake at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes.

Next combine sugars, eggs and vanilla; beat well. Sift flour with baking powder, salt and nutmeg; add to first mixture. Stir in nuts and dates.
