PEACH TURNOVERS | |
2 c. sifted flour 3 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 c. butter 2/3 to 3/4 c. milk 1 c. peeled, sliced peaches (about 2 peaches) 2 tbsp. soft butter 2 tbsp. brown sugar Preheat oven to 425°F. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly, then add milk to make dough soft. Place dough on a cutting board and knead gently 30 seconds. Divide dough in half and roll one half at a time into a rectangle, approximately 6 x 8 inches, about 1/4 inch thick. Cut each of these into 4 smaller rectangles, about 6 x 3 inches. Place slices of peaches on half of each rectangle, dot with butter, and sprinkle with sugar. Then fold these over and gently pinch turnover closed. Bake 15 to 18 minutes. Makes 8 turnovers. |
