BREAD PUDDING 
1 1/2 c. soft bread crumbs
2 whole eggs plus 2 egg yolks
1/2 c. sugar
2 tbsp. butter
3 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt

Heat milk with butter. Add bread crumbs. Beat eggs and yolks until creamy. Add sugar, salt and vanilla. Stir in hot milk and bread. Bake in 350 degree oven in a pan with water as you would a custard until a knife inserted comes out clean. Cool.

Cover top with jam or jelly and meringue made by beating the 2 egg whites stiff. Add 6 tablespoons sugar gradually. Pile on top of pudding. Bake until brown in 350 degree oven.
