HERB BREAD
5-6 c. flour
2 tbsp. butter
1/4 c. sugar
1/3 c. dry milk
2 pkgs. yeast
1/2 c. Parmesan cheese, grated
4 tbsp. mixed dried herbs (oregano, basil, thyme, tarragon as desired)

Combine 2 cups flour, butter, sugar, yeast and milk in large bowl. Add 2 cups warm water and mix until combined. Add remaining flour gradually and knead until dough is no longer sticky. Divide dough in half. Roll each half into 11"x15" rectangle. Sprinkle each with 2 tablespoons herbs and 1/4 cup Parmesan. Roll up lengthwise, jelly roll fashion. Cut several slits through first layer of dough. Allow breads to rise until doubled. (Works best with a French bread form.) Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes. Yield: 2 loaves.
