SCOTCH SHORTCAKE 
BOTTOM:

2 sticks butter
1/2 c. granulated sugar
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla

TOPPING:

1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1 1/2 c. powdered sugar
1 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla

For bottom, cream butter, sugar and vanilla. Beat in flour. Spread into a greased 9-inch square pan.

For topping, cream together all 4 ingredients. Spread over bottom layer.

Bake for 1 hour at 300 degrees. Cut at once into squares.
