WHOLE WHEAT HONEY BREAD | |
2 pkg. dry active yeast 3 c. warm water 3/4 c. honey 1/2 c. butter or oil 1 tbsp. salt 5 c. whole wheat flour 3 c. white flour Allow yeast to soften in water for a few minutes. Add honey, butter or oil, salt and whole wheat flour. Beat with mixer at low speed for 7 minutes. Add 2-3 cups of additional flour. Knead until dough is smooth and elastic. Let rise until double in bulk, 1 hour. Punch dough down. Form into 2 loaves. Place into greased 9 x 5 inch pans. Let rise 40 minutes. Bake in preheated 375 degree oven for 40-45 minutes. Brush tops with melted butter after baking. |
