PEANUT BLOSSOM COOKIES 
1 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. peanut butter
1 egg
2 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
48 chocolate candy kisses

In large mixing bowl combine all ingredients except candy kisses. Blend well at low speed. Shape into balls using a rounded teaspoonful for each. Roll balls in additional sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheets.

Bake at 375°F for 10 to 12 minutes. Remove from oven.

Immediately top each cookie with a candy kiss, pressing down firmly so cookie cracks around edge.

This recipe is an old family favorite. After some research, it was found that a similar recipe was published in a cooking pamphlet published in the 1950's. It is still a favorite today.
