CABBAGE AND APPLESLAW WITH WALNUTS | |
1 sm. savoy cabbage (1 lb.) 1/2 c. mayonnaise or salad dressing 3 tbsp. lemon juice 1 tbsp. honey 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. allspice (ground) 1/8 - 1/4 tsp. liquid red pepper seasoning 2 green or red apples, quartered, cored and thinly sliced - use both if desired 1/2 c. coarsely chopped walnuts Trim cabbage and shred. About 6 cups are needed. Put in large bowl. In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, lemon juice, honey, salt, allspice and red pepper seasoning. Mix well. Pour dressing over cabbage and toss to coat. Cover and refrigerate about 1 hour. When ready to serve, toss slaw once more. Using a large serving dish or large flat type dish, pile slaw in center. Arrange apple slices around outside edge of dish. Fill the center of slaw, with walnuts. |
