BITS O'BRICKLE COOKIES 
6 oz. pkg. (1 c.) Bits O'Brickle
1 1/2 tbsp. liquid shortening
6 tbsp. flour, unsifted
1/2 c. butter
6 tbsp. sugar
6 tbsp. brown sugar, packed
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/4 c. plus 2 tbsp. flour, unsifted

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. In a small bowl, mix Bits O'Brickle with liquid shortening until evenly coated, then stir in 6 tablespoons flour until well coated, set aside.

In a large bowl, combine butter, sugar, brown sugar and vanilla; beat until creamy. Beat in egg. Gradually add salt, baking soda and flour; mix well. Stir in coated Bits O'Brickle. Drop by rounded teaspoons onto greased cookie sheets. Bake at 325 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Makes 50 (2 inch) cookies.

When Mrs. Berg takes them out of oven, let them cool, about 1 minute and then gently spoon over the sifted confectioners' sugar.
