PEANUT BUTTER CRISS-CROSSES 
1 c. shortening
1 c. granulated sugar
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. peanut butter
3 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

(Richer cookies use only 2 cups flour). Thoroughly cream: shortening, sugars, eggs and vanilla. Stir in peanut butter. Sift dry ingredients: stir into creamed mixture. Drop by rounded teaspoons on ungreased cookie sheet. Press with back of floured fork to make criss-crosses. Bake at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes.

Makes 5 dozen.

PERFECTION! I followed directions for the richer cookie, only using 2 ups flour. The cookies were baked for 10 minutes at 350°F just as recommended. Each cookie had just enough crispness, without being hard at all. Very tasty... just like Mama used to make!
