NINE LAYER SALAD | |
1/2 head lettuce, torn into bite sized pieces 4 stalks celery, sliced 1 bunch green onions, chopped (including tops) 1/2 c. canned sliced water chestnuts, drained 1/2 head cauliflower, cut into bite sized pieces 1/2 head broccoli, cut into bite sized pieces 1 lg. cucumber, sliced 1 (10 and 12 oz.) pkg. frozen peas uncooked 2 c. mayonnaise or mayo type salad dressing 2 c. sour cream or sour cream substitute 1/2 c. crumbled cooked bacon, optional 1/2 c. romano cheese, optional Layer first set of ingredients in a large bowl. Mix together second set of ingredients. Spread half of this mixture carefully over peas, taking care to seal edges. Refrigerate 2 to 3 days. Before serving, add remaining dressing mixture and toss. If desired, top with third set of ingredient. |
