KERR SCOTT'S $10, 000 CHOCOLATE
CAKE
 
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. cocoa
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter, softened
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. milk
2 tsp. vanilla
Frosting

Mix flour, baking powder and cocoa in bowl. Cream sugar and butter in mixer bowl until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add flour mixture and half the milk; mix well. Add remaining milk and vanilla. Beat 2 minutes. Pour into 3 greased and floured 8-inch cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes or until layers test done. Remove to wire racks to cool. Spread frosting between layers and over top and side of cake. Yield: 12 servings.

FROSTING:

1/2 c. butter, softened
1 (1 lb.) pkg. confectioners' sugar
1/2 c. cocoa
1/4 to 1/2 c. boiling water
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream butter, confectioners' sugar and cocoa in mixer bowl until light and fluffy. Add enough boiling water to make of desired consistency. Stir in vanilla.
