LENTIL DHAL | |
1 tablespoon coconut oil 1 medium brown onion 2 cloves garlic (crushed) 1 teaspoon ginger (finely chopped) 1 red chili, seeds removed and finely chopped 1 teaspoon Garam Masala 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric 1 cup red lentils, rinsed and drained 1 x 400 gram can chopped tomatoes 2 cups water season to taste 1. Heat the oil in a heavy based pan and add the onion, garlic, ginger and chili. 2. Sauté until the onion is golden. Add the Garam Masala, turmeric and lentils and sauté for another minute. 3. Add the tomatoes and water and bring to the boil before lowering the heat. Cover and cook for 15 minutes. Add the seasoning and continue to cook until the dhal has a thick consistency.
