BEEF-BARLEY SOUP 
About 1 lb. hamburger or stew beef
1 med. onion
1 (1 lb.) can tomatoes
3/4 tsp. savory
1/2 tsp. tarragon
Measure then crush
1/2 tsp. garlic salt
1 tsp. celery salt
1 tbsp. parsley
1/8 tsp. pepper
3/4 c. barley
20 oz. bag frozen mixed vegetables
2 potatoes (optional)

Brown meat and onion in large Dutch oven. Add tomatoes, seasonings and 5 cups of water. Bring to boil and simmer about an hour. Add barley and potatoes if desired. Simmer 15 minutes. Add mixed vegetables. Simmer another 15 minutes. More water can be added if needed.
