POLISH CABBAGE SOUP | |
1 day before making soup, pour 2 cups boiling water over 1 cup split peas and let them soak. Brown 1/2 lb. salt pork and 2 large onions, chopped. Mix in about 3 to 4 tablespoons flour. Grate 1 large cabbage into a large pot. Add 1 medium can sauerkraut. Add salt pork mixture and soaked peas with water. Add enough water to make "soup" consistency. Bring to a boil, then simmer about 6 hours. More water may be added during cooking. This works well in a crockpot. |
