APPLE DUMPLINGS 
2 2/3 c. sifted flour
1 1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. shortening
1/2 c. red cinnamon candies
Confectioners' sugar
1/3 c. chopped pecans
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
6 med. tart apples
Cream

Mix flour and salt in bowl; cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse cornmeal. Sprinkle with 6 1/2 tablespoons cold water; mix well. Divide into 6 equal parts. Roll each part out on floured surface to 7 inch square Place cinnamon candies and 1/4 cup water in saucepan; cook, stirring constantly, until candies are melted. Add 1/3 cup confectioners' sugar, pecans and nutmeg. Peel and core apples.

Place 1 apple on each pastry square; fill cavities with pecan mixture. Moisten edges of squares with cream. Bring opposite corners of pastry over apples; press together. Brush dumplings with cream; place on baking sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for about 35 minutes or until brown. Mix 2 cups confectioners' sugar with enough cream to just moisten. Spoon onto hot dumplings; garnish dumplings with cooked apple pieces.
