ITALIAN CREME CAKE 
2 c. sugar
2 sticks butter
1/2 c. shortening
5 eggs
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. buttermilk
1 c. nuts
2 c. coconut
1 tsp. vanilla
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1 lb. powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream the sugar, 1 stick butter and shortening. Then add 5 egg yolks (slowly), flour, baking soda and buttermilk. Then slowly add the nuts, coconut and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Fold in 5 beaten egg whites.

Bake in 10 1/2 x 15 1/2 pan at 350°F for 30 to 35 minutes.

Frosting: Take the cream cheese and 1 stick butter and cream together. Then add the powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Spread on cake when cooled.
