OLD FASHIONED SHORT CAKE 
2 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. sugar
2 tbsp. butter
4 tbsp. Crisco
2/3 c. milk

Measure flour, baking powder, salt and sugar and sift together in bowl; add butter and shortening and cut in as for pie crust. Add milk and stir with fork until blended. Knead lightly and roll out 1/2 inch thick. Cut into rounds, put into baking pan and bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes. Serve as strawberry short cake or with other fruit such as pineapple and rhubarb sauce or sliced peaches.
