SEAFOOD CHOWDER 
3 slices bacon
3 c. cubed potatoes
2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. thyme
1/2 c. chopped celery
1/8 tsp. pepper
1 c. sliced onions
5 c. hot water
1 can (3 1/2 c.) tomatoes
1/2 c. diced carrots
2 cans minced clams & juice
2 cans crab meat

Saute bacon in large kettle, fry until crisp, remove and drain. Add water and vegetables and seasonings to bacon grease. Cook 1 hour until tender. Add clams and crab. Make white sauce from flour, butter and half & half. Add to chowder to thicken. Serve when heated through. Don't boil. Serves 8 to 10.
