SUGAR COOKIES 
3/4 c. butter or shortening
1 1/4 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 1/2 to 3 c. flour
2 to 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
4 tbsp. milk
2 tsp. vanilla

Combine first three ingredients until creamed (best if mixer is used). Add sifted flour and sifted baking powder with salt to creamed mixture. (I refrigerate a few hours or few days.) Take out and roll on floured pastry cloth. Cut into desired shapes and bake on 350°F until very lightly browned on bottom, 5-7 minutes.

Makes about 6 dozen cookies.

I use one stick butter and rest shortening. Also, dip your cookie cutter into flour and it will cut easier. If you have a problem getting cut out cookie to cookie sheet use a pancake flipper. It gets under the dough and removes to cookie sheet without damaging the shape of the cookie.
