EXTRA-SPECIAL WHOLE WHEAT
WAFFLES
 
1 c. (250mL) milk
1 c. (250mL) water
1/4 c. (50mL) butter
1/4 c. (50mL) honey
2 2/3 c. (650mL) whole wheat flour
3 eggs
1 pkg. (1/4 oz. or 7g) active dry yeast
1 1/2 tsp. (7mL) salt

Heat milk, water, butter and honey at 120 degrees (48 degrees C). In large mixer bowl, combine flour, egg, yeast, salt, and warmed milk mixture. Mix at low to moisten, then medium-high for 1 minute. Cover and refrigerate several hours or overnight, stirring down occasionally.

Preheat waffle maker. Pour 1/2 cup (125mL) over grids. Close waffle maker, bake until crisp, 2 1/2-3 minutes. Repeat. Serve while hot with your favorite topping. Yield: 10 round waffles or 20 square waffles.

These were awesome. Definately make them again. They froze well and were excellent out of the toaster,too. We watch our sodium intake, so I omitted the salt.
