SWEET & SOUR LENTIL STEW | |
1/3 c. raw brown rice 1 c. uncooked lentils 1 onion, chopped 3 carrots, chopped 1 green bell pepper, chopped 2 tbsp. liquid garlic 1 garlic clove 2 tbsp. olive oil 1 c. fresh tomatoes, chopped 1 bay leaf 2 tbsp. kelp 1 tsp. basil 1 tbsp. tamari soy sauce 1 tbsp. juice of lemon 1 tbsp. molasses 1/2 tsp. vinegar 2 lbs. flank steak, cut in 1 inch cubes Put lentils, rice and water in large pot and bring to boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 30 minutes. Saute steak in oil until brown. Add onion, carrots and bell pepper. Simmer for 30 minutes. Add tomatoes and seasonings and 30 minutes more. NOTE: You can substitute more cloves of garlic for the liquid garlic and salt for kelp except add only about 1 teaspoon of salt or to taste. This is a HEALTH food recipe and very good. This recipe is good for your memory. |
