CHOCOLATE STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE 
6 c. fresh strawberries
1/4 c. sugar
1 2/3 c. all-purpose flour
1/3 c. cocoa
1/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
1 beaten egg
2/3 c. milk
1 c. whipping cream
2 tbsp. sugar

Slice berries and combine with 1/4 cup sugar; set aside. For short cake, combine flour, cocoa, 1/4 cup sugar, baking powder and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Combine egg and milk, add to dry ingredients and stir just to moisten. Spread dough in greased, round baking pan, building up edge slightly. Bake at 450 degrees for 15 to 18 minutes. Cool 10 minutes on wire rack. Beat whipped cream with the 2 tablespoons sugar in it. Arrange sliced berries on top of cake. Spoon whipped cream over top. Serve warm.
