1 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. brown sugar (packed)
1/2 c. cold water
1/2 tsp. baking soda
3 eggs beaten light
3 c. cooked raisins (drain)
2 1/2 to 3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
Pinch of salt
Spices to taste
Nuts (optional)

Mix all ingredients well. Bake at 350 degrees until done.
