SUGAR COOKIES - DROP | |
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar (more or less to taste) 1 1/2 cups shortening 1 1/2 cups butter (No substitutes) 3 eggs 3 tsp. vanilla 3 tbsp. milk 7 cups flour 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda 3 tsp. baking powder 1 1/2 tsp. salt Cream together granulated sugar, shortening and butter. Add eggs, vanilla, milk. Mix well. Add flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 350°F 7-15 minutes (until golden). Cool and frost with butter cream frosting. This is a triple recipe and makes a large batch of cookies. It may be divided by 3 to make a smaller quantity. Like all cookies, if the dough is too dry and crumbly, add milk, a few tablespoons at a time until you have a soft "drop" dough; if dough is too liquid, add flour a few tablespoons at a time. Before you add the eggs to the cookie dough, you can taste and adjust for extra flavor; always use fresh vanilla! These taste great unfrosted too. These cookies are so good they will melt in your mouth! Submitted by: Shelly Murphy |
