MOLASSES GINGER COOKIES 
2 c. all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. cloves
1 1/2 c. sugar, divided
1/2 c. butter, softened
1/4 c. unsulphured molasses
2 tsp. grated orange peel
1 lg. egg

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Sift flour, baking soda, salt, ginger, cinnamon and cloves together in medium-sized bowl. Beat 1 cup sugar and the butter until light and fluffy. Add egg, molasses and orange peel. Beat until smooth.

Add all dry ingredients and beat until combined. Refrigerate at least 30 minutes. Roll dough into 1 inch balls. Dip balls into remaining 1/4 cup sugar and place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown. Makes about 4 dozen.
