GINGER MOLASSES COOKIES
4 c. unsifted flour
1 tbsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. ground cloves
2 tsp. ground cinnamon
4 tsp. ground ginger
2/3 c. butter
2/3 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 tbsp. molasses
2 tbsp. light corn syrup
Cinnamon-sugar

In a small bowl, combine flour, soda, salt, cloves, cinnamon and ginger. Stir to mix well. In a large bowl, beat together butter, shortening and sugar until fluffy. Stir in eggs, molasses and corn syrup until well blended. Add flour mixture to creamed mixture. Beat until smooth and pliable. Pinch off by the rounded tablespoon (about the size of a toy jack ball). Roll into smooth balls (they're flatten out). Roll in cinnamon-sugar mixture to coat completely. Place on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for 11 to 13 minutes or until cookies appear cracked but are firm and feel soft to the touch. Yield: 7 dozen.
