BANANA OATMEAL COOKIES 
1 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 c. shortening
1 egg, well beaten
1 c. mashed ripe bananas
1 3/4 c. rolled oats, uncooked
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Sift first 6 ingredients together. Cut in shortening (use butter flavored Crisco). Add egg, bananas, oats, and nuts. Beat until well blended. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet about 1 1/2 inches apart. Bake 15 minutes or until edges are browned. Remove from pan immediately. Cool and serve. Makes 3 1/2 dozen cookies.
