CALIFORNIA CLAM CHOWDER 
6 thick slices bacon
1 lg. onion, diced
4 med. potatoes, cubed
10 celery sticks, diced
1 (#2 1/2) can tomatoes (blended in blender)
3 tall or 4 flat cans clams and broth
1 1/2 tsp. thyme
1 tsp. basil
1/4 to 1 tsp. cayenne pepper to taste
2 to 3 cloves garlic or garlic salt
Parsley flakes, if desired
1 pt. coffee rich
Instant potatoes

Cut bacon into small pieces and fry. Saute onion in with bacon. Put all ingredients in a large pot and cook until desired consistency. Thicken as you like with instant potatoes.
