ORIENTAL STEAK STRIPS 
2 lb. round steak, cut 1" thick
2 tbsp. cooking fat (olive oil)
1 c. water with drippings
1/3 c. soy sauce
1/4 tsp. pepper
3 carrots
1 (8 oz.) can water chestnuts, halved
2 tsp. sugar
1 clove garlic, minced, sliced up
1/2 lb. fresh mushrooms, halved
8 green onions, cut up
2 tbsp. cornstarch & 1/4 c. water, mixed
2 green peppers, cut in 1" squares
Cooked rice

Cut round steak into strips 1/8" thick and 3/4" long. Brown strips in oil in a large frying pan. Pour off drippings and measure and add water to make 1 cup. Combine with soy sauce, sugar, pepper, garlic and add to meat. Cover and simmer 45 minutes. (Add a dash of steak sauce, optional.) Cut carrots, peppers, onions, mushrooms and water chestnuts and add to meat. Cover and continue to cook 15 minutes. Combine cornstarch and 1/4 cup water to thicken mixture. Serves 6 to 8. Serve over rice.
