SWEET - SOUR BEEF STEW 
2 lbs. stewing beef, cut into 1 1/2 inch cubes
1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
4 tbsp. shortening
1 c. chopped onion
6 lg. carrots, cut in 3/4 inch pieces
1/4 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. vinegar
1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce

Mix flour, salt, and pepper; dredge beef with mixture. Heat shortening in skillet and brown meat well. Place carrots in bottom of crock pot. Add meat and onions. Combine remaining ingredients and add to crock pot. Cook 7-8 hours on automatic. Yield: 6 servings.
