BARLEY CASSEROLE 
1 3/4 c. barley pearls
5 c. water
6 envelopes George Washington Broth (dark)
3 onions (medium), chopped
1/4 lb. butter
1 lg. can mushrooms (stems and pieces)
1 pkg. slivered almonds (optional)
1/2 lb. medium Cheddar cheese, grated

Saute onions in butter. Mix all ingredients together; pour into 3 quart casserole. Bake in 300 degree oven for 1 1/2 hours. Serves 10-12. May be done in crock-pot 3 - 3 1/2 hours.
