GINGERBREAD HOUSE ICING
1 lb. powdered sugar
1 tsp. cream of tartar
3 egg whites

Beat all ingredients until very stiff. Use as glue for assembling house. Icing will harden as it sits, so add a few drops of water as needed. Use assorted candies to decorate house. Kids love this. Makes a great children's Christmas activity. Houses can be made a month in advance and then decorated at your convenience.

This recipe works really well! My granddaughter and I had a wonderful time making our gingerbread house this year.We could not find our written recipe, so we looked on this website and the recipe really works. But instead of egg whites we used meringue powder. This works the same and its good for any one who dose not want to put the icing in the fridge. :)

This gingerbread house icing recipe is fantastic! Easy to make, and worked like a charm! I really beat it to a stiff consistency (hand mixer, 10 min or so on low, then medium), and then used a plastic icing bag and small tip. Made it no-drip, but still easy to work with as decoration AND 'glue'...love it!! My 8 y/o son was able to help make the icing and use it without any frustration.
