EMILY'S CREAM CHEESE COOKIES 
1/4 c. butter, softened
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 (18.5 oz.) pkg. yellow or chocolate cake mix

Cream butter and cheese. Blend in egg and vanilla. Add dry cake mix 1/3 at a time, mixing well after each addition. Mix last third by hand. Cover and chill 30 minutes. Drop by scant teaspoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheet. Sprinkle with decorations if desired. Bake 8-10 minutes. Cool slightly before removing from cookie sheet. Makes 6-8 dozen cookies.
