CAKE BROWNIES 
2 c. sugar
2 c. flour
1/2 c. shortening
1 stick butter
1 c. water
4 tbsp. cocoa
1/2 c. buttermilk
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla

Sift sugar and flour. Boil in pan shortening, butter, water, and cocoa for 3 or 4 minutes. Pour boiled mixture over sifted sugar and flour mixture; stir. Add rest of ingredients. Bake on 1 large cookie sheet or 2 (8 x 8 inch) pans for 20 minutes at 375 degrees.

FROSTING:

1 stick butter
4 tbsp. cocoa
6 tbsp. milk
1 box powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. nuts, chopped

Boil butter, cocoa, and milk for 3-4 minutes. Add rest of ingredients. Spread frosting over cake brownies. While still hot. Cool to cut. Freezes well!
