ALPINE GOULASH WITH BUTTERED NOODLES | |
2 1/2 lb. boneless round steak cut to 1 1/2 inch cubes 2 tbsp. shortening 3 c. coarsely chopped onion 1 clove garlic, minced 1 can (8 oz.) tomato sauce 2 tbsp. brown sugar 1 tbsp. paprika 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. caraway seed 1 tsp. dill seed 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce 1/4 tsp. pepper 1/2 pt. (1 c.) sour cream Brown meat well on all sides in shortening. Add onion, garlic, tomato sauce and all seasonings; mix carefully. Cover and cook slowly until beef cubes are tender about 2 1/2 hours. Stir in sour cream just before serving. Serve atop hot buttered and seasoned noodles. Yield: 6 to 8 servings. Easy to cook in electric frying pan. |
