2 pkgs. yeast 1/2 c. warm water 1 1/2 c. warm milk 1/2 c. sugar 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. nutmeg 1/4 tsp. cinnamon 2 eggs 1/3 c. shortening 6 c. flour 1/4 c. melted butter Dissolve yeast in water; add milk, sugar, salt, spices, eggs, shortening, and 2 cups flour. Blend 1/2 minute on low speed. Scrape bowl constantly. Beat 2 minutes at medium speed. Stir in all flour until smooth and cover. Let rise until double (50 to 60 minutes). Roll around dough to coat lightly with flour. Roll about 1/2 inch thick. Cut with doughnut cutter. Place 2 inches apart on greased sheet. Brush with melted butter. Cover and let rise until double (20 minutes). Heat oven to 425°F. Bake 8-10 minutes until golden brown. Brush with melted butter again. When cool, frost and dip in chopped nuts. Makes 1 dozen. |
