1/2 lb. butter
1/2 c. Crisco
3 c. sugar
3 c. plain flour
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
4 heaping tbsp. cocoa
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. milk
5 eggs

Cream butter, Crisco and sugar well. Sift flour and measure baking powder, salt and cocoa. Add and sift 4 times. Add eggs one at a time to butter and sugar then add flour mixture and milk.

ICING:

1/4 lb. butter
1 box 4x powdered sugar
2 sq. baking chocolate

Melt butter and chocolate on stove. Add in to sifted powdered sugar. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla and 4 or 5 tablespoons milk or until smooth enough to spread.
