CABBAGE PATCH STEW 
1 lb. ground beef
2 med. onions
1 1/2 c. chopped cabbage
1/2 c. diced celery
1 can stewed tomatoes
1 can kidney beans
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. water
1/4 tsp. pepper
1-2 tsp. chili powder

Cook ground beef in Dutch oven until light brown. Drain off grease. Add onions, cabbage and celery. Cook and stir until vegetables are light brown. Stir in tomatoes and beans in their juices. Add water and seasonings. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat and simmer while preparing dough. Spoon dumplings on top and cook uncovered 10 minutes and covered 10 minutes.

DUMPLINGS:

1 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. milk
3 tbsp. shortening

Mix all dry ingredients. Cut in shortening. Add milk. Combine well and top stew.
